This page explains how to use the convert function for DeFi transactions.
Contents
1. What is the convert function?
It creates an editable transaction in the Transactions tab based on a DeFi transaction
When you "convert" a DeFi transaction, an editable transaction ("converted transaction") is generated in the Transactions tab based on it. On the converted transaction, you can edit the transaction type, amount, price, etc., or exclude/delete it.
*When a DeFi transaction is converted, the original DeFi transaction is automatically excluded from the PNL calculation, so it is not double-counted.
*DEFIFEE transactions in the Transactions tab cannot be converted (the "Convert into editable transaction" button is disabled). To exclude a DEFIFEE from the PNL calculation, please refer to DeFi: How to exclude DeFi fees from the PNL calculation.
When do you need to use the convert function?
DeFi transactions that cryptact could not classify automatically are marked as "Unclassified (To classify)", and they are also excluded from the PNL calculation in the Transactions tab.
When you select the transaction type in the DeFi transactions tab, the "To classify" status is resolved, and the transaction is reflected in the Transactions tab and included in the PNL calculation (for the steps, please refer to How to address "Unclassified (To classify)" DeFi transactions on EVM and How to address "Unclassified (To classify)" DeFi transactions on Solana). In most cases, this completes the process and you do not need to use the convert function.
However, in the following cases, selecting the transaction type alone is not enough for the PNL to be calculated correctly. In such cases, use the convert function to fix the transaction.
Case 1: You received a coin without price data as a bonus
If you receive a coin for which cryptact does not have price data as a "Bonus", cryptact cannot look up its price, so the transaction is flagged as an invalid transaction due to "Price lookup unavailable" in the Transactions tab.
In this case, convert the transaction and manually enter the price on the generated converted transaction. For more details on "Price lookup unavailable" and how to enter prices, please refer to How to fix invalid transactions caused by "Price lookup unavailable".
Case 2: A swap between cryptocurrencies is split into two transactions
In the DeFi transactions tab, a swap between cryptocurrencies may be reflected as two separate transactions that cannot be linked together as a single swap. In this case, you can fix it using either of the following methods.
- Method A (custom file): Exclude both transactions in the DeFi transactions tab by setting them to "Fee only", and then upload the swap as a single row via a custom file so that it is reflected in the Transactions tab.
*Even if a transaction is set to "Fee only", fees such as gas fees are reflected in the Transactions tab as "DEFIFEE". If you also include the same fee in your custom file, exclude the DEFIFEE by following DeFi: How to exclude DeFi fees from the PNL calculation to avoid double-counting. - Method B (convert): Exclude only one of the two transactions in the DeFi transactions tab by setting it to "Fee only", then convert the other transaction in the Transactions tab and edit the converted transaction so that it represents the swap.
For the conversion steps, please refer to "2. How to use the convert function".
2. How to use the convert function
2.1 Click the relevant DeFi transaction in the Transactions tab.
2.2 Click "Convert into an editable transaction".
2.3 Below popup will appear. Click "OK".
2.4 The DeFi transaction will be in the pending conversion status. To complete the conversion, go to the DeFi transactions tab.
2.5 In the DeFi transactions tab, click "Sync all".
2.6 Make sure that the "Synchronization has been completed" pop-up message appears.
The conversion process is now complete. Now you can edit the converted transaction.
2.7 In the DeFi transaction tab, select "Convert" as the action filter.
→This displays the list of original DeFi transactions that you used the "Convert" function.
2.8 Click the DeFi transaction you would like to edit.
2.9 You cannot edit the original DeFi transaction directly, but you can edit the transaction that was generated by the conversion (="converted transaction"). Click the converted transaction.
2.10 You can edit/exclude/delete the converted transaction. After you make the necessary edits, click "Commit" at the bottom right to save the changes.
* The original DeFi transactions in the Transactions tab are automatically excluded from the PNL calculation so it is not double-counted.
3. View converted transactions via the Transactions tab
3.1 In the Transactions tab, click "Status".
3.2 Click "Info" and then select "Converted transaction". This displays the editable converted transactions that were generated by the conversion process.
4. Reset the convert
1. On the DeFi Transactions page, click the converted transaction to reset.
You can filter DeFi converted transactions by selecting "Action: Convert."
2. On the DeFi Transactions page, click the relevant transaction.
3. On the transaction detail page, click the transaction displayed under "Transactions generated by conversion."
If there are multiple transactions generated by the convert, repeat steps 2 and 3 to delete all of them.
3. You will be automatically redirected to the details page of the corresponding converted transaction in the transaction page. Click "Delete".
How to Edit/Exclude/Delete transactions
4. Go back to the DeFi transaction page and click the transaction that was the source of the convert.
5. Click "Cancel DeFi Convert".
We would recommend repeating the steps up to clicking the "5. Cancel DeFi convert" button for each converted transaction you wish to reset, and then clicking the "Sync" button only once at the very end to complete the process. Clicking the "Sync" button triggers a recalculation, so syncing after each individual reset would take considerable time.
6. Click Sync. Once synchronization is complete, the conversion will be reset.
