How to Resolve File Upload Errors Caused by an Empty File

This page provides the causes and solutions for the empty files.

1.Cause 1: Trying to upload a file with no transaction history

Solution

If no transactions were made and the file contains no transaction records, there is no need to upload it.

*If you have actually conducted transactions but the file does not contain any transaction history, please contact your exchange’s support team.

*Some exchanges may limit the period for which transaction history can be retrieved or may omit certain transactions entirely. Please check the “Automation Coverage Updates” for your exchange. Any transactions not automatically supported must be manually uploaded as ”Custom transactions.” If your exchange is not listed under the automatic support, please refer to the introductory notes under “File Import” and “API Import.”

2.Cause 2: Uploading a downloaded ZIP file without unzipping it.

Some exchanges may provide transaction history in ZIP format, but we often only supports the CSV file inside. As a result, uploading the ZIP file directly may trigger an error.

Solution

Please check "File Import" for downloading files from your exchange. If the download is a ZIP file, you’ll need to extract it first—follow the steps below to unzip the file and then upload the contained CSV file.

Reference for Windows users

Please install 7-Zip, and follow the below steps to unzip the file.

1) Right-click the file you want to unzip, and select "7-Zip" from the menu.
2) When the 7-ZIP menu appears, click "Extract files…" option.
3) Check which folder the unzipped file will be placed. If you want to the unzipped file to be placed in a different folder, click the "" button beside the "Extract to" field.
4) Click "OK".
