How to Upload a Exchange Files Correctly

This article explains what you need to be aware of when you are uploading an exchange file.

There are 3 main points to note during the upload:

① Do not open or edit csv files after downloading

② Upload files by year or month in order from oldest to newest

③ Make sure the correct time zone is selected

Let's go into detail about each of these points!

1. Do not open or edit csv files after downloading

If you open or edit csv files after downloading them from the exchange, they will become corrupted and you will not be able to upload them to cryptact. Please check below help page for more details:

How to resolve”If you opened or resaved your file, you may not be able to upload”

2. Upload files by year or month in order from oldest to newest

When uploading transaction files, please make sure to upload them in order from the oldest to the newest based on transaction date.

Some exchanges limit the range of data that can be downloaded at one time (e.g., only the past three months). As a result, when your data is split into multiple files within the same upload box, please upload them starting with the file containing the oldest transactions. Due to cryptact’s specifications, only transactions that occur after the latest transaction date already uploaded for each exchange/upload box will be imported. If files are uploaded out of chronological order, please refer to the help page below:

What is "No new transactions found in the uploaded file. This could be because the transactions are either already uploaded or from a locked date"

Example:
If you upload Exchange A’s spot trading history for 2023 first, you will not be able to upload the 2022 file afterward. You must upload them in order: 2021 → 2022 → 2023.

The latest transaction timestamp for each uploaded file is displayed on the upload screen for each exchange.

3. Make sure the correct time zone is selected

When it comes to the 'Timezone' displayed on the upload screen, typically there is no need for you to make changes. However, caution is necessary if an orange message appears on the screen, as shown in the example below, especially on some exchanges.

For instance, in the case of Coinbase, the 'Timezone' is set to 'cryptact Default' (which in this case corresponds to the timezone: Etc/UTC). However, when downloading the transaction history file from Coinbase, there may be rare instances where the file's transaction timestamps are updated to match the time settings on your computer. While no changes are necessary if the file's transaction timestamps are in Etc/UTC time, if they are displayed in Japan time, please change the timezone on the screen to 'Asia/Tokyo' as shown below."
