This feature will be release on 5th October 2026.
This page explains the "Import asset transfers (deposits/withdrawals)" option in Ledger settings.
Contents
1. What is "Import asset transfers (deposits/withdrawals)"
This setting imports the deposit and withdrawal history of crypto and fiat currencies (transfers between your own accounts) contained in your exchange or wallet history into the transaction list.
Transfers between your own accounts do not change your total holdings and have no impact on the profit and loss calculation. Note that when the setting is off, deposit and withdrawal rows in your files or API data are not imported into the transaction list. For details, see "How to Handle Transfer (Deposit/Withdrawal) Between Accounts".
When the setting is on, deposits and withdrawals are also shown on the transaction list. Use this setting if you want to check when and on which account a deposit or withdrawal took place, alongside your trades, in cryptact.
Your profit and loss results are the same whether this setting is on or off.
2. When turning this setting on is useful
Deposits and withdrawals are not used in the profit and loss calculation, but having them on the transaction list helps in situations such as the following.
-
You want to track your deposits and withdrawals alongside your trades
You can see when, on which exchange or wallet, and how much was deposited or withdrawn, in the same timeline as your trades. This is useful for keeping track of the flow of funds if you use several exchanges and wallets. -
You want to find the cause of "Insufficient position for sale" invalid transactions
Insufficient position is usually caused by missing acquisition history (purchases, receipts, etc.) for a coin. With deposits and withdrawals on the transaction list, it is easier to follow the flow of the missing coins.
Example: a BTC sale on Exchange B is flagged as insufficient position- On the transaction list, confirm that the deposit of that BTC to Exchange B is shown.
- If the sale flagged as insufficient position is for more BTC than was deposited, you may have acquired additional BTC through some transaction after the deposit to Exchange B. Check whether that acquisition history is missing.
For details, see "How to fix invalid transactions caused by "Insufficient position"".
3. Default setting
- The setting is off by default. Turn it on only if you want to see your deposit and withdrawal history.
- For customers migrated from Gtax to cryptact, the setting is on by default so that the history is displayed as it was in Gtax. You can turn it off if you do not need it.
4. How to change the setting
You can change the setting from the "Settings" screen.
In "Advanced settings" , turn on (blue) "Import asset transfers (deposits/withdrawals)" and click "Update" at the bottom of the screen.
*Always click the "Update" button after changing a setting to apply the change.
5. Display on the transaction list
When you upload or sync transaction history with the setting on, the deposits and withdrawals contained in the file or API data are shown on the transaction list.
Deposits and withdrawals are not part of the profit and loss calculation, so no profit or loss is generated.
For DeFi transactions
- DeFi transactions set to "Self" in the DeFi transaction list are shown on the transaction list as deposits and withdrawals.
- DeFi transactions for which you selected "Fee only" in the DeFi transaction list are not shown as deposits or withdrawals (if gas was paid, only the fee is reflected).
6. Notes
- Support for importing deposits and withdrawals differs by exchange and file type. For exchanges that provide deposit/withdrawal history as a separate file from the trade history, you need to upload the deposit/withdrawal file. Please check the help page for each exchange.
- Transfer fees paid in cryptocurrency are reflected in the profit and loss calculation as "Transfer Fee" regardless of this setting, as before. For details, see "Settings: Expense Transfer Fees".
- Deposits and withdrawals in history uploaded or synced while the setting was off have not been imported. After turning the setting on, upload the relevant files again or re-sync the API / wallet.
- Imported deposits and withdrawals count toward the annual transaction count of your plan.
- Transfers to or from third parties change your total holdings and are required for the profit and loss calculation. Independently of this setting, please upload them using a custom file.
