Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Security Setting

This article explains how to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Security.

1.What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) ?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a more secure method of protecting your account. In addition to the email address and password required for a standard login, you are asked to enter a six‑digit code (a one-time password) that is displayed in an authentication app—such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator—installed on your device (smartphone or tablet). This code updates periodically for enhanced security.

2.How to set up two-factor authentication (right after creating your cryptact account)

1.After creating your cryptact account, click the ‘Enable 2FA’ button displayed at the bottom of the screen.

*If you have not installed an authentication app, please make sure to install one beforehand.

*In the authentication app, it is displayed as ‘pafin / pafin Inc.’

2.What is a recovery code?

Recovery codes are a set of eight codes that are displayed after you finish setting up the code generation in your authentication app for two-factor authentication. These codes are provided to prevent you from being locked out of your account in case you lose your device or delete the app. Each code consists of ten alphanumeric characters, and you can log in by entering any one of the codes in addition to your email address and password. Each code becomes invalid once it has been used, so by keeping track of which codes have already been used, you can log in up to eight times.

1.If you lost your authentication code, click "Lost your authentication device?" at the bottom of the "Two‑factor authentication" screen.

5.How to troubleshoot when the two-factor authentication code does not appear in the app or you cannot find it

5-1.Being asked to enter an authentication code even though you do not recall setting up two-factor authentication.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but if you are prompted to enter a two-factor authentication code when logging in, it means that 2FA has already been enabled on your account.
If you suspect that a third party may have accessed your account, please contact our support desk to have 2FA temporarily disabled. After logging in, please check your login history from the "Activity" section on the "Account" page.
If you find any login activity that you do not recognize, we strongly recommend changing your password.

5-2.The two-factor authentication code is not appearing in the authentication app.

Please check whether the login entry labeled ‘pafin / pafin Inc.’ is present in your authentication app.

We regret to inform you that we are unable to provide support for the operation or behavior of authentication apps. If the login entries within your authentication app were not carried over due to device loss or a device change, or if the entries were accidentally deleted within the app, these may be possible causes of the issue.

If you would like to have two-factor authentication disabled, please contact our support desk.

5-3.I don’t know the two‑factor authentication code.

・Check the authentication app on the device you are using (such as your smartphone or tablet).

・Check the recovery codes.

If, after completing the above steps, you are still unable to retrieve both the authentication code from your authentication app and your recovery codes, please contact our support desk regarding the deactivation of two‑factor authentication.
For security reasons, we may ask questions related to the information you have previously uploaded to cryptact to verify your identity before disabling 2FA.
If you are not subscribed to a paid plan, you may also create a new account using your new email address.
However, if your paid plan is set to renew automatically, you will need to cancel the renewal yourself. Therefore, please log in after two‑factor authentication has been disabled.
