How to Handle "Fees in Fiat Currency" during Deposits and Withdrawals

This page explains how to process your deposits and withdrawals (transfers) in cryptocurrency when the fees you paid were in legal tender.

As a premise, deposits and withdrawals (transfers) between your own accounts do not affect your total assets and therefore do not impact your profit and loss. Thus, transaction history is not required (excluding fees).
Deposit & Withdrawal History for Cryptocurrency

1. Fiat deposit/withdrawal fees

If a deposit or withdrawal fee in fiat currency (e.g. JPY) is included in an exchange file or in the history retrieved via API, cryptact records it as a "Transfer fee (SENDFEE)".

*Trading fees paid in fiat currency have always been reflected.

2. Impact on profit and loss

There are no clear government guidelines on whether fiat deposit/withdrawal fees can be expensed (included in profit and loss calculations). The treatment in cryptact depends on the "Expense transfer fees" setting in your ledger settings, as follows.

"Expense transfer fees" setting Treatment
Off (default) No impact on profit and loss.
On The fee amount is recorded as a loss (expense).

Please consult your tax advisor or tax office before deciding whether to expense these fees.

3. Files already uploaded

Previously, fiat deposit/withdrawal fees were not imported even if they were included in the exchange file. Since the update on September 17, 2026, they are recorded as "Transfer fee (SENDFEE)".

Therefore, fiat deposit/withdrawal fees are not reflected for files uploaded before September 17, 2026. If you want them reflected, please delete the relevant file and upload it again.
How to delete trade history

For history retrieved via API, fiat deposit/withdrawal fees have been recorded as "Transfer fee (SENDFEE)" since the update on September 18, 2026. They are not reflected in history retrieved before that date.

*If "Expense transfer fees" is off, fiat deposit/withdrawal fees do not affect profit and loss, so your calculation results will not change even if you do not re-upload.

4. If the fee is not included in the exchange file

For fiat deposit/withdrawal fees that cannot be retrieved from the exchange file or API, you can enter them in a Custom File (see 2.5) with the Action "SENDFEE" and upload the transaction history. As with fees reflected from exchange files, the impact on profit and loss follows the "Expense transfer fees" setting (see "2. Impact on profit and loss" above).

▼Example: A fee of 2,000 yen was incurred when transferring between your own accounts.
