Cryptact’s Approach to the Migration to MATIC/POL Tokens

This help page explains cryptact's response to the migration of MATIC/POL tokens.

Polygon, a layer-2 network built on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, underwent an upgrade on September 4th (local time), during which MATIC tokens were migrated to the new POL tokens. In response, cryptact has updated the system on September 6, 2024(*), to handle each token with the following symbols.

(*)We performed an update for Bybit and some other exchanges on Friday, September 20, 2024 (JST). If the symbols are not correctly reflected in the transaction history uploaded before the 20th, please delete the relevant history, resync the API or re-upload the file, and confirm that the updated symbols are reflected.

Coin Name (Symbol) Before Coin Name (Symbol) After Change Date
1 Polygon (MATIC) Same*1
2 Polygon (MATIC) Polygon (MATICETH) *2, 3 September 4, 2024(JST)
3 Polygon Ecosystem Token (POLYGON) Polygon (MATIC) *3  September 4, 2024(JST)

*1 Although Polygon (MATIC) on Polygon PoS has been renamed to Polygon (POL), cryptact has decided to continue using the coin symbol (MATIC) instead of adopting the new symbol (POL).

*2 At cryptact, we previously used the same symbol for Polygon (MATIC) on Ethereum and Polygon (MATIC) on Polygon PoS without distinguishing between them. However, considering that 1:1 bridging between them will no longer be possible, we will now recognize them as separate coins moving forward.

*3 For histories 2 and 3, there may be unclassified transactions due to insufficient positions. Therefore, you will need to manually upload the history yourself. (However, if the blockchain history has been uploaded for the DeFi wallet address, cryptact will automatically reflect the swap history, so there is no need for you to manually upload the history.)

If you have added blockchan transaction history using a DeFi wallet address, cryptact will automatically reflect the swap history from MATIC to MATICETH and from POLYGON to MATIC as of 00:31:35 (JST) on September 5th, 2024. Therefore there is no need for you to manually upload the transaction history.

An example of a case where insufficient positions may occur:

If you hold "Polygon (MATIC)" on the Ethereum chain and sell that token after September 4, 2024, cryptact will reflect the sale as "Polygon (MATICETH)." However, since the purchase history is reflected as "Polygon (MATIC)," you will need to upload the purchase history for "Polygon (MATICETH)" separately. Otherwise, invalid transactions will occur due to insufficient positions of "Polygon (MATICETH)," and those transactions will be excluded from the profit and loss calculation.

To resolve these invalid transactions and proceed with the calculation, you can reduce the number of "Polygon (MATIC)" tokens and upload the purchase history for "Polygon (MATICETH)" using a custom file. For detailed instructions on how to create a custom file, please refer to the link below.
